Will this laptop hardrive work and fit into a Lenovo X200s Thinpad?

Be "very careful and sure" of what you are doing!! The one i purchased wuz bad out of the box from Neweg. It is just a 7mm thick hard drive in a Lenova carrier/assembly. When i returned it Neweg said that the wrong HD wuz in the carrier. Maybe thats y it didn't work? Neweg made it right after several lengthy converstions, thats y i continue to have a New Egg first policy for whatever i need!! According to the service manual u don't need a 7mm thick hard drive.  Not only that the carrier assembly probly won't fit.  The service manual states that a Lenova x200s takes a 9.5 mm thik HD. If u search Gogl for Lenova x200s replacement hard drive you may find a service manual in PDF format, maybe, possibly :-)

Question 2

Will this (or a different one) be best for replacing a HD on Lenonv THinkpad T230 The 500GB & 7200 RPM are right, but the SATA on the original is 6.8gb/s...whereas this one is 3.0GB/s
Which model HD would be best to replace that?

I bought this over two years ago and use it in a small media server.... The size is right and the 500Gb is more then enough for what I need... You however are replacing a similar HDD with a 6gb/s through put... expect a performance hit... webpages that finish with the "webpage has a exceptionally long script" type of warning and an extra 2 - 3 second wait for the video ad to load.

Hate to be the barer of bad news. I would go for a smaller HDD with the 6GB/Sec if $$ is an issue you will be happier with the performance.

I have na FRU for a 500gb 7200RPM, 6.0GB/sec. It's 42T1223.
