Does this E-port support 6540?
Is it USB 3.0 (or 2.0)?

Dell Latitude "E" series of which the e6540 is a member (with the exception of the 3000 line of value priced laptops) should be fully compatible with the ePort and ePort+ replicators.  That is not true of the earlier dPort (which work with the Latitude "D" family).   We've never had any issues.  The laptop snaps into the dock via a separate connection on the bottom of the laptop.  The ePort+ has both USB 3 and USB 2 USB ports available on it.
